Humanity is a social animal. It is our greatest strength and what saves us from being a prey species. It’s also the first thing that canibal predators attack and exploit.

My family abused me and then I lost everything to addiction. The more I recover, the less I want to have anything to do with my family. I feel very sad about this all the time. I pray for each of them and release them across space and time with nothing but love. But it's still so sad. I might die of a broken heart

This is a poweful talk. I was addicted to exercise for many years and my body paid a high price. People accepted this addiction more because it was socially OK to exercise excessively and I was an athlete, but I did not enjoy it, and it was the endorphins I craved just like the opioid addict. I did a lot of therapy and have lost this compulsion decades ago. Dr. Mate is so very wise and compassionate, I wish every high school health student could hear this Ted Talk.

This is the first time I hear such a vivid response of the public at a Tedx conference, it got my eyes to tear up a bit. I've found Gabor listening to a Russell Brand podcast yesterday. Now I have one of his books.

Wow! Rare to find someone who talks so we'll and connects to people, I felt like standing and clapping at the end.

Hitler’s personal doctor give a lot of Amphetamine to his boss. Strangely Amphetamine played the part of insanity to both leaders and his followers. Life is like a box of chocolates!

Just the thought that people can relate to n understand what he's saying is relieving.
Maté can empathise with the pain cause he has been there, just like all of us.
P.S. Read some of his books please. They'll change the way you look at addictions and yourself.

This wonderful man sees and has seen, so much suffering, but he keeps on going and rides the storm to help other people. Maybe it helps him that so many of people love him. He gives so much…All for free on you tube. He does have so much sorrow in his eyes. What an incredible man!!!!!!!!!
